Hi, I'm Julie. I'm a physical therapist in Barrington, IL.
Julie Roy, DPT, NCPT. Owner of Achieve Physical Therapy & Wellness.
I'm a physical therapist, but more importantly, I love helping people get back to the things that make life fun.
Gardening. Pickleball. Chasing your kids or grandkids. Running your first 5K. Or just waking up without that nagging ache you have been ignoring for months. Whatever it is for you, that is what we work toward.
Why I started Achieve
After years of treating orthopedic and neurologic conditions, I wanted to practice the way I would want to be treated: one person at a time, with enough time to actually listen.
So in 2025 I opened Achieve Physical Therapy & Wellness here in Barrington, inside Tensile Strength Studio. Around here, we keep things simple. No rushed appointments. No cookie-cutter treatment plans. No getting handed off to an aide. Every visit is one-on-one with me.
Three things I wish everyone knew about physical therapy
- You don't have to wait until the pain is unbearable. The nagging stuff is easier to solve early, and it is a perfectly good reason to come in.
- Physical therapy isn't just exercise or massage. It is figuring out why something hurts in the first place, then building a plan around that.
- My favorite part of this job is the comeback.Helping people get back to things they thought they would have to give up never gets old.
My training
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Carroll University
- Certified in trigger point dry needling
- LSVT BIG Certified Clinician, a specialized program for people with Parkinson's disease and other neurologic conditions
- Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) through the National Pilates Certification Program
Most of my week is orthopedic physical therapy, post-surgical rehab, and TMJ and jaw pain therapy. I bring Pilates into rehab to build strength, flexibility, and overall WELLNESS that lasts after the pain is gone.
Life in Barrington
I live in the Village of Barrington with my husband Nick, our two boys, Casey and Riley, and our pup Bansi. We love exploring our town: trying new restaurants, seeing live music, and being active outside. If you follow along online, expect a garden update or two.
My approach is holistic and patient-centered. We will set realistic goals together, and I will help you ACHIEVE them.
Julie
